I finished working in Bermuda at Christmas 2001, and headed for England, confident that my stay at my parents would be short, and I would soon be gainfully employed again.

Two months later I was still unemployed and of no fixed abode. So, I thought, "Bugger this!" and went on holiday to Indonesia, via a short trip through Thailand and Malaysia.

My original plan was to go from Bangkok to Bali, but I soon realised this was way to ambitious unless I extended my trip. So instead, I travelled around Sumatra.

Unfortunately the pictures I took on the first part of the trip failed to come out. My main camera died horribly fairly early on, and its replacement got nicked when I got back to England. Fortunately I got some of the pictures developed along the way.

Two months wasn't enough, so in October I went back again, this time to Java and Sulawesi.

I finally made it to bali in 2005.
